Move to DC and get a journalism job
Maybe incorporate journalism/your FITS experience into traveling. Like work at a restaurant in a random country AND write about it teach literacy etc. And then go do more school? I guess summer isn't short enough to do both? Maybe you could take a year off and live somewhere else and get all loaded up on experiences so you have lots to work with once you start your master's program.
